Geeta Iyer is one of the most widely known and respected Yoga teachers in Chennai, India. She is a qualified teacher and has had training in Iyengar, Integral and Sivananda Styles. She has been practicing and teaching Yoga for over 18 years. She teaches her students “the art of living in peace, and being free from disease.” She lives a yogic lifestyle; practices pranayama and inverted asanas every morning in the “Brahmamuhurt” at 4.30 am and gets her inner batteries charged with high energies. She inspires her students to incorporate the yogic principles in their everyday lives and keep their mind and body free from disturbances.

The practice of Yoga has had a profound influence on Geeta’s life; it has given her a new life, made her confident and happy. Geeta reiterates that “when a person is happy he is healthy. She shares her experiences as a practitioner and teacher with her students, and explains how good health can be achieved the natural way - she says that everyone has to make certain lifestyle changes to improve their health

Geeta describes Yoga  as “Svadhyaya” study of one’s higher Self  which is soul or atman; ‘sva’ means one’s self and ‘dhya’ means study.  Regular practice uplifts the mind and body to high energy levels and helps to effectively balance the ups and downs of life. Geeta says “Yoga removes the disturbances and brings you closer to God and makes your life peaceful.”

Geeta is dedicated to the well being of her students; her wisdom, her expertise and her continued interest in Psychology and Physiology has made her an effective teacher, and distinguishes her from most Yoga teachers.

Geeta insists that practicing pranayama for 30 minutes, asanas for 30 minutes early in the morning every day will promote high energy levels all through the day. Inverted asanas must be practiced for 10 minutes, this removes maximum toxins and reverses the ill effects of ageing.

Geeta has had the opportunity to attend many Yoga classes in Yoga ashrams in India and in USA. She has extensive experience teaching both individual and group classes for private and corporate clients in both countries. Geeta shares her Yoga expertise with the broader community through her regular contributions to the ‘Wellness’ columns of the national newspapers.
