“Yoga is a Divine Discipline and an Amazing Experience”
“It brings back the natural rhythm you are born with”
What is Geeta Yoga
Geeta Yoga is a unique ongoing program designed for all ages, ability and body condition. The aim of the program is to spread “the light of yoga” and ensure that every student is healthy and happy. It is a long term self-development program, that educates the students on natural healing without taking medication. She explains that yoga is a divine path that promotes inner growth in the direction where everything go right in one’s life.
When a Student Enrolls
Geeta makes it clear to her students that right attitude, regularity and commitment is required for yogic path of healing. Geeta insists that nobody should be pushed to join a yoga class. Joining a yoga class must be a willful decision and the student must enjoy the practice. Geeta collects information about her student’s health condition and lifestyle. This information will enable her to understand their specific needs and guide them suitably in their practice. She teaches the beginners simple variations of asanas which open up many areas in the body and improve flexibility. A positive attitude during practice helps to correct imbalances.
Students with Health Issues
Most of her students enroll because they have health issues. She is understanding and compassionate and gives them the confidence that they can overcome their problems if they commit themselves for regular practice. Emphasis is given on positive attitude, inward focus, proper alignment, and proper breathing. Geeta says, that proper alignment and proper breathing, promotes inward focus and harmony. Geeta takes special care in teaching specific asanas and pranayamas, suggests suitable lifestyle changes that will improve their health. She makes her students understand that most health issues are caused due to unhealthy lifestyles such as wrong postures, eating junk foods when hungry, negative thoughts and emotions, long hours of work without relaxation, lack of sleep in the night.
Over the years, Geeta, has helped many students recover from their health issues and adjust well to the changing situations in their lives. She trains her students to practice inverted asanas with support of props and practice Kapalabhatti and Nadi Shodana pranayamas each for at least fifteen minutes. She guides them through their practice and helps them to improve. Overtime such a practice will effectively heal the existing damages, and also strengthen the immune system, preventing health issues in the future.
About the Classes
Geeta’s classes are multilevel, and each class is for one hour. Geeta begins with gentle yoga warm ups to remove lethargy and tensions from the muscle groups and joints. Step by step instructions and personal attention is given. She encourages her students to use props such as wall, table, chair, blocks, ropes and cushions to do the asana without strain. She does not progress to the difficult variations unless her students have developed self awareness and adjusted comfortably in the simpler asanas. Geeta as a teacher is a standing example for her students. She shares her experiences as a practitioner and a teacher, explains to them that yoga is a divine discipline that not only heals their pain but also promotes lasting happiness.
The classes are interesting, inspiring and educative. They begin and end with chants from the Vedas. The chants create positive vibrations within the practitioner and also in the environment. The chants have profound influence on the minds and liberate negative energies. She intelligently sequences the asanas and makes sure that she takes them through a harmonious internal journey. Her students enjoy the sessions and are refreshed and relaxed when they leave.
Geeta tells her students that pranayama is not easy. To overcome the internal obstacles, one requires, strong motivation, sincere effort and repetitive practice for many weeks. The best time to learn and master pranayama is early hours of every morning. This is called the “Brahmamuhurt” a divine time that generates positive vibrations for effective practice. Geeta trains her students to practice each pranayama for at least five minutes. The first five minutes of practice is the most difficult and once they overcome this difficulty they can practice long time and experience much more benefits. Geeta reiterates, “longer practice, provides more benefits.”
Surya Namaskar, is taught only after achieving awareness and flexibility in standing, lying down and sitting asanas. Inverted asanas like Sarvangasana, Halasana and Sirsasana are taught when the students have developed the physical and mental ability; they are trained using props such as wall, chair and blankets.
Geeta says, “I am very happy when I see my students perform “effortlessly with ease” and move from one asana to another with a pleasant expression on their faces. Trust me, it takes many years of dedicated practice to achieve this perfect integration and control of the mind, body and soul. Performing the difficult asanas easily does not mean one is free from disturbance. To be free from disturbance one has to discipline the mind first, willingly change unhealthy destructive habits, accept reality with a smile and move ahead without looking back.”
“Immerse yourself in this amazing discipline and experience lightness and joy”
